Stripey Beetle

I trimmed the rosemary bush at the weekend and this little fellow was tucked away on a leaf. It looks like a ladybird at least in shape but the body is striped and shines with an irridescent hue...beautiful.
Has anyone any idea what it is? My thought was , "is it a foreign ladybird?" There are so many now in the garden.
