The start of something...

This is the very day that I start a year long project with a dear friend. She has I would say infinite knowledge of the town in which we both live...me for fifty three years...she since birth.

We write together every Thursday morning at a group called..."The Bold Street Writers". A prompt is delivered...and we write. This morning seven of us wrote about the words..."The Journey" ...each person's writing was so different...which I think is a joy in all that we share and have shared for more than twenty years.

Then we set off after a lovely cup of flat white coffee in a favourite cafe and a natter about our lives and a catching up after a busy week....on as Winnie the Poo always said.."A very great adventure".

I'm going to save the journey for another blog...but this first day touched my heart at quite a deep level as we explored the streets we thought we both knew so well...and found new business in old places and old people in hard places.

Just this pic says it all maybe...a little miniature fern taking hold in a tiny crack in the stone work of an abanboned old 1800s property.

Here is life.

  1. Hi "Gerry! By coincidence my friends from Grange were over today - we met for a delicious lunch and then they came back for a couple of hours. We spoke about the monthly craft fair you used to attend. Apparently the last one of the season was cancelled because of appalling weather. Nice to see you blogging again. Patx

  2. Good example of every picture tells a story Gerry. Your writing group sounds good. I belonged to one for years but I don't enjoy being given a topic to write about - I would prefer to listen to what the other members have written spontaneously - sadly a few of the group never stuck to the permitted 500 words so we never got round everyone. It didn't make for harmony so I pulled out.

    1. Ah Pat...harmony!...hard to find!..we had a bit of it ...disharmony.. last week...probably the first time...it needed a bit of calming down!!...we are only 8 at the most so enough time to hear everyone...I don't always like the prompt...justy try to do my best!!

    2. What a great thing to do - writing and drinking coffee - two of my favourite pastimes! Can I play along? Not sure how many words you need, but if you give me a prompt I may be able to come up with a 250 words or so?

FYI - My November photo challenge if you're up for it is...

'A splash of colour'. Something that jumps out against an otherwise ordinary backdrop; or maybe it's the icing on the cake. By the 1st. November, please.

      Take care. J.

If you'd allow me to play along at some point that would be lovely - not sure how many words you'e after, but give me a prompt and I'll see if I can come up with 250 words or so?

FYI - November's Photo Challenge over at my place...
