Starting again.

Soon we will be back in the studios with the groups that come for pottery classes every week.

We waited for a while this year to make sure that the potter was up to teaching..

......but though waiting for an op at the end of January...

...as we say in Belfast!....he's "rarin" to go!

I thought it might be interesting to post some pics of the work done by one or two of the talented folk who come each week.

Cakes at The Potters House.

This is just a taster of the workshop that was held here on Saturday by our daughter.
No doubt Neviepiecakes will have a super post on all of this soon.
But in the mean time I just want to show some of the things that happened...and admit that I felt quite emotional as she taught these thirteen women to paint on cakes.

We used to say to our two children as they were growing up..."don't go into teaching!"
It was a reaction to the tiredness that we felt and the sense of suffocation in the teaching world in the 80s...at least that's how we felt and why we got out, to set up The Potters House here in Penketh.
But both have in their own way gone into ..if not teaching...then passing on information of their skills, to others.

 As usual all three of the studios were used.

Your's truly provided food and sustenance. Lots of drinks to keep the inspiration flowing...

and a spot of lunch to rest the weary brains!

And the potter didn't waste any opportunities to talk clay......

Parties at The PottersHouse.

Well... five parties down and dusted and what fun.

Last evening was the fifth.

We always have a bit of an end of year party for each of our classes, here at the Potters House.

So... it's mulled wine, mince pies and cream and chocolates

... Though some of our lovely people bring other goodies!

Savoury nibbles etc.

Now they have all gone off to sort out their own Christmases,

and the table is left with the sweet remains of a good evening.

The room was lit this year with our driftwood tree.

 I love it.

We gathered the wood from the wild coast at the mouth of the Bay...Sunderland Point.

The day was wild and the sea was foaming...

Don't you just love the edge in winter!

That's it now until the beginning of January,

Classes at the Potters House.

Back from India a week now. It takes a while to get back into the work again . This time it's really hard, what with the time change and the funny tummy that we both have had.
But classes started last Monday once again and so this is already the second week.
We have super people in our classes and it's great to see someone with no prior knowledge of either paint or clay start to gain confidence in what they are doing.
Although many have been coming to us for years, others have recently joined.
So I'm going to put up a few photos of recent work still unfinished .
