Day Four Art Challenge....Alan Snape

Day Four...Alan Snape's Art Challenge and this Penguin is proudly showing off her/his Venetian crown.

We spent many happy hours at The Brighton Arts Festival at The Open House of @AnneliesClarke for some years.

She asked us to consider a Venetian Theme and this is what the potter came up with and very happy we are that he did.
You can find them in the galleries that supply his ceramics as well as here at The Potters House Penketh......... there are other less theatrical penguins available ........!!

Old Friends...

One of the lovliest things in the world is the easiness of meeting up and talking to old friends. That's not to say that they are always age-old....but some might be and others not.
Yesterday was such a day.
An old ...yes fairly old ...friend came ...well just dropped in ...for a cuppa and a chat.
Therre is some heavy stuff going down in her life, and ohhh it's so good to talk things through with another who is not in that same boat but has a bit of a clue as to how you might feel.

Then an unexpected phone call from across the sea...old friend first met when we were sweet 16!....
It's as if you just carry on the conversations that you had maybe a year or even more ...ago.

Then the third meet....up at the young families house for a meal with Joanne, James and their brood.
James lived with us when he was 18 for a year on a gap year out before Oxford, and it was one of the best, funniest and happiest years that we had during the time that we took gap year teenagers in to our home.

But they didn't leave empty-handed....oh no...apart from the two penguins bought for some collecters....
...off went the camel with the wellington boots!!
...ready for anything....sand or snow that fellow!

That's him on the left looking into the future....the one with the hiking boots has long gone ...he was not the sort to hang around waiting for the dreamers!

Prom Art in July 2011

Another great day at Grange-over-Sands yesterday. I was a bit worried about the weather playing up...either too hot and nowhere to hide...or rainy and not worth putting the paintings out.
Oh dear you can't please some people!
But it was perfect. Warm breeze and clouds covering the worst of the sun's heat.....well we are talking northern here.

                                        Robert...

of the yellow sweatshirt fame!...was pleased with the turnout.
He runs the show...(and I think maybe his sweatshirt is pink now?)

A hundred and ten artists this time.

And the quality of the art gets better and better.
We had a good day business-wise and on top of that met some lovely folks and had a yummy picnic.
What more could one ask for?
That's maybe stretching it a tad! Don't ask me for a list.

Anyway these ceramic poppy heads sold out...

Penguins flew off the table...metaphorically speaking...

One lovely lady came to buy her 4th...
...what can she be doing with them?

And Kate the granddaughter, sold one of these...much to her financial delight!

But these little "babes" were not there as they are even now being packed up for the journey south to
The Snape Maltings Gallery in Suffolk tomorrow.

....and all in a row....

They should feel at home down there!
