The fungi are popping up everywhere in the back field in all their wonderful colours....
...they are not for the mushroom salad I will make for our meal today!!!
But how amazing are the shapes and colours that we see...
...some of these have appeared for the first time this year...
...I can't bear to get rid of them...
...fortunately there are no little children running around here nowadays.

Hello Gerry, I'm late up to-night, and then I saw your post with those wonderful fungis. It seems that you've got a good year of fungi. I have not found many this year. I enjoy their colours and their look in the green grass or the moss. And the lovely smell of soil and fungi, that's the scent of autumn.

Thankyou Grethe...I think it has been a good year for fungi everywhere as I even have the American bloggers mentioning the excess....sorry if you couldn't sleep...there is nothing worse for me!!!
DeleteYes Gerry, we are inundated too here in North Yorkshire - far more than usual.
ReplyDeleteWere you really making a mushroom salad for tea - if so I would love to know how you do it, sounds marvellous.
I heard somewhere that the DNA of fungus resembled that of animals more than that of plants. I suppose since it just sort of sits still and doesn't do a lot we think plant.
ReplyDeleteat the rate that they grow you are right they have to be much more animal that plant!
DeleteBeauties indeed, but I think I'll stay away from eating them :-)
ReplyDelete...a wise move RuneE....
